More than 3000 social care staff in Glasgow had worked overtime in the last year
Figures obtained by the Scottish Conservatives for every, with staff working more overtime now than four years ago.In Glasgow, the total was £27,037,203 with the highest annual bill reaching £7.1m in 2021/22.In the Glasgow Times today, a social care worker told how staff were “practically burnt out” with the increasing workload and service cuts.
Scottish Conservative shadow minister for social care Craig Hoy MSP, said: “These staggering figures highlight the huge challenges that social care workers are facing, with vacancies across Scotland forcing existing workers to take on more overtime. “This has huge cost implications for local authorities as well as risking the burnout of overstretched staff.”
