Victor Ho is wanted for subversion of state power under Hong Kong’s National Security Law, which has drawn needed attention to his activism.

RICHMOND, B.C.—All in all, being wanted isn’t so bad, Victor Ho says.

The committee plans to form an international parliament for the city, in which citizens living in Hong Kong or around the world could vote for representatives in a free election. A news release from the Hong Kong Security Bureau names him and two others, Elmer Yuen and former regional legislator Baggio Leung, both living in Washington, D.C., as being wanted on subversion of state power under the National Security Law.

International observers warned the law would be used to trample rights and try to quell criticism of the Chinese and Hong Kong governments around the world. On the first day the law took effect in 2020, 370 people were arrested.
