A restaurant where a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a teenage boy has been stripped of its licence. Stockport council licensing chiefs said they had ‘no faith’ in the management of Loona, in Cheadle Hulme, after hearing evidence at a town hall hearing.
She added: “What’s more, on the evidence before them, the sub-committee has no faith that the management could run the premises responsibly and in accordance with the conditions of the licence.” The panel again heard evidence that a group of teenagers had been drinking and smoking shisha in a conservatory area at the back of the venue.
Solicitor Marvi Bijarani on behalf of Ms Assaad, said her client accepted the venue had been ‘careless and ‘reckless’ on the evening in question, but not deliberately so. She said: “Rana takes full responsibility for the recklessness of carelessness that led to the incident of young individuals being sold alcohol.
But Ms Bijarani said she had also not noticed anything ‘unusual’ at the time. “She noticed the female put lipstick on and that the male and female looked quite comfortable, there weren’t any issues of concern at this point,” she said.
