Scottish Fire and Rescue have confirmed that 15 appliances are at the scene.
Residents living near the Station Hotel in Ayr have been told to close their windows and doors as crews tackle a huge fire that has ripped through the historic building tonight.
A total of 15 appliances have been called to the scene with firefighters desperately trying to extinguish flames which have torn through the protective white covering that encased the dangerous building. A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue said: "We were alerted at 5.37 pm on Monday, September 25 to reports of a fire within the Station Hotel, Ayr.
