Neighbours say there is no reason for people to come to the area
A group of neighbours have had their say about what they would like to see in place of the site of a former "dodgy pub" where "undesirable people went". Nottingham City Council is looking to sell land surrounding the former Toll Bridge Inn at the Victoria Embankment.
The Toll Bridge, a 1960s former Home Ales tied house, was demolished a number of years ago. The cleared plot is located near the entrance to the Victoria Embankment by the Wilford Toll Bridge. Many said they are seeking "something that would bring the community spirit back". Leo Theobold, a web developer, added: "It was pretty dodgy. The food was awful."
However, Mr Theobold said "there is nowhere to go apart from a couple of shops". He added: "There is nothing that would bring the community here. We need a community space - something to bring the community spirit back." "But I think this place is missing a community space - something for the people, like a community cafe. It could be okay if they kept it as a green space as well."
