Residents' cries for service delivery fall on deaf ears
Residents of Borwa in Westonaria, in the west of Gauteng, have vowed to shut down municipal offices should their service delivery demands not be met by ward councillor Amanda Styebi.
Styebi said she was aware of the community's concerns, adding that"all the necessary resources have to be deployed to ensure that the community's concerns are dealt with".In Soshanguve, Pretoria, residents of blocks K, L, G and H barricaded roads in the area last week, protesting the unhealthy state of the water they were provided by municipal tankers.They complained of their children suffering diarrhoea after drinking the water.
She said the child was"admitted [to hospital] for three days due to diarrhoea after she drank a glass of water [sourced from a tanker] because all of the water we had bought had run out".
