Residents clean overgrown land to tackle criminal elements

A group of residents rolled up their sleeves and got down to tackle the overgrown piece of land between the Royal Reef West Estate and the ERPM Golf course on February 24. The initiative was organised by the newly formed NPO, Skills Solutions in partnership with ERPM Golf course and a local business, The CareTakers. Skills Solutions founder Rehandre Landman thanked all those who supported the initiative. He said the area posed a risk to the community as it served as a hiding spot for criminal elements.

He said the area posed a risk to the community as it served as a hiding spot for criminal elements. "We cleaned a sizable portion of the area and we are planning to clean the remaining section on March 16, from 09:00 to 12:00. More community projects are in the pipeline aimed at restoring the deteriorating infrastructure in Ward 22. "These include tackling the road defects in Madeley and Pretoria roads," said Landman.
