New data shows which Halloween treats are the healthiest and most sugary. Nerds Candy tops the list with 93g of sugar per 100g, followed by Sour Patch Kids with 80g of sugar. Twizzlers are deemed the healthiest option.

Halloween is just a day away now, which means the confectionary aisles in supermarkets will be cleaned out of all the sweet treats and goodies to give to trick-or-treaters. But if there’s something niggling at the back of your mind about just how much sugar might be consumed, new data has shown which treats are actually 'healthy'.

A recommended serving size of 15g is advised when eating Nerds Candy, due to its substantial sugar content. This amount represents 27 per cent of the daily recommended added-sugar intake. Making up the top three most sugary sweets were Swedish Fish, which contained a slightly lower sugar content of 77g per 100g in comparison to the runner up. On the flip side, liquorice sweet Twizzlers have been deemed the healthiest sweet to choose this Halloween.

Next in the line-up is Red Vines, often seen as a direct competitor to Twizzlers. Opting for a 30g recommended serving will consume approximately half the sugar content when compared to Swedish Fish, totalling 12g.
