Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Wednesday that he was against providing funding for 'blue state bailouts' during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Rep. Pete King blasted Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Wednesday for suggesting that state governments should consider going bankrupt rather than be given additional federal funds to relieve the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"McConnell's dismissive remark that States devastated by Coronavirus should go bankrupt rather than get the federal assistance they need and deserve is shameful and indefensible," King tweeted."To say that it is 'free money' to provide funds for cops, firefighters and healthcare workers makes McConnell the Marie Antoinette of the Senate.
"We're going to push the pause button here, because I think this whole business of additional assistance for state and local governments needs to be thoroughly evaluated," McConnell told Hewitt.
