The Tennessee Titans will be starting rookie Will Levis against the Atlanta Falcons according to a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The Titans traded up in this year's draft to select the former Kentucky passer, so it was always likely Levis got to see the field if starter Ryan Tannehill got hurt, but second-year quarterback Malik Willis won the backup job over Levis. That created some mystery as to whether it would be Levis or Willis up next.
Some claim this is for competitive reasons, forcing the other team to plan for two quarterbacks. The seriousness of that sort of idea and the effectiveness can be debated, but regardless the rouse didn't last long as the Falcons certainly have better intel than the regular public gets. The Titans are likely heading into the 2024 NFL draft with a high pick and will see a draft class with some excellent quarterback prospects at the top. Finding the quarterback of the future should be the top priority and they'll need to know if they need to take a shot on another passer after the season.
While that is not likely, it is also still a possibility. It has happened for other teams recently, so why not the Titans? Wearing the Houston Oilers throwbacks and winning a home game in your first start is a great way to kickoff a career.
