Fast food restaurant McDonald’s is reportedly ending the test of its Artificial Intelligence in the eatery’s drive-thru lanes.
Now, the fast food company is apparently going to remove the technology from where it was being tested at over 100 outlets.The Chicago-based fast-food giant is ending this test without any sort of expansion, according to an email sent to franchisees on Thursday. Restaurant Business has obtained a copy of that email.
“While there have been successes to date, we feel there is an opportunity to explore voice ordering solutions more broadly,” Mason Smoot, chief restaurant officer for McDonald’s USA, said in the system message. “After a thoughtful review, McDonald’s has decided to end our current partnership with IBM on AOT and the technology will be shut off in all restaurants currently testing it no later than July 26, 2024.
