Report: Manning turns down MNF gig. MORE:
Jason WittenManning, who retired from the game following a Super Bowl 50 victory after the 2015 season, will still have an ESPN presence with"Peyton's Places" a 30-episode series set for ESPN+, the company's streaming service, to premiere in July.
This marks the second time that Manning has turned down the gig. The 43-year-old New Orleans native was the broadcaster's first choice prior to last season when Jon Gruden left the booth to return to coach the Oakland Raiders. Witten ultimately took the job, but has since unretired to rejoin the Dallas Cowboys.
Without any further additions, the MNF crew for next season will consist of play-by-play man Joe Tessitore, analyst Booger McFarland and sideline reporter Lisa Salters. Monday Night Football is heading into its 50th season and its broadcast of the fall is a Week 1 doubleheader featuring the Houston Texans vs. New Orleans Saints and Denver Broncos vs. Raiders set for September 9.
