Report: Chicago Blackhawks sign Jack Johnson to one-year contract
‘s report, the Blackhawks will likely announce Johnson’s new contract on Wednesday. He’ll become the second Stanley Cup-winning Johnson on the Blackhawks, joining Tyler .
Johnson is a 6’1″, 227-pound left-handed defenseman. The Carolina Hurricanes selected him with the No. 3 pick in the 2005 NHL Draft, but he never played for the team before being traded to the Los Angeles Kings in 2006.In 1,024 career NHL regular-season games with the Kings, Columbus Blue Jackets, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers, and Avalanche, Johnson has scored 72 goals and 312 points.
The veteran defender amassed nine points and averaged 16:45 in 74 games with the Avalanche during the 2021–22 regular season. Johnson joins a Chicago defense corps that also includes Seth Jones, Caleb Jones, Connor Murphy, Jake McCabe, Riley Stillman, and Alex Vlasic.
