The Celtics are reportedly acquiring Malcolm Brogdon in a blockbuster trade with the Pacers.

In return, the Pacers will receive a 2023 first-round pick, Daniel Theis, Aaron Nesmith, Canadian Nik Stauskas, Malik Fitts and Juwan Morgan.

By acquiring Brogdon, the Celtics make a significant addition to an already near-championship calibre lineup without giving up any of the top eight players in their rotation. Brogdon, 29, is a six-foot-five point guard who averaged 19.1 points, 5.9 assists and 5.1 rebounds while shooting 44.8 per cent from the floor last season. Although he struggled from three-point range with a 31.2 percentage during the 2021-22 campaign, his career percentage from deep is 37.6.The Celtics have wanted a playmaking point guard dating back to last season, but ultimately handed the starting role to Marcus Smart.

The Celtics could also bolster their roster even more by adding forward Danilo Gallinari, who has identified Boston as his preferred destination once he is released by the San Antonio Spurs,On the Pacers side of things, they've added a third first-round pick in 2023 as the club continues its rebuild process.

They also have the most Canadians ever on one roster with Stauskas on the team. He joins Oshae Brissett, Bennedict Mathurin and Andrew Nembhard.
