on Thursday, Rempel Garner said she won’t be running for the leadership of the United Conservative Party because of divisiveness within the party. “This has been the hardest decision I have ever had to make,” she said. “I’m self-aware enough to know it’s the right choice. It would be an incredible honour and privilege to be premier of Alberta. I am so tempted to do this … But given everything, I think Albertans would be better served if right now I stayed in the important role they’ve already given to me, and if I respected the UCP caucus in giving it the space it needs to figure its stuff out.
