There is no doubt that the Lake District is absolutely beautiful and it's easy to see why walkers and fans of the outdoors travel from all over the world to visit. But for some, the beauty and solace of our picturesque Cumbrian communities just aren't remote enough.
A number of different old cottages and huts - known as 'bothies' - are conveniently located in parts of the national park that are now used to help you and fellow travellers - lost or otherwise - in their hour of need. Normally they have no gas, no electricity, some have no running water, no bathroom or beds. They're as basic as a shelter can be.

This bothy is in the Lake District’s Northern Fells near Keswick, just a little way down from the summit of Great Lingy hill and near the Cumbria Way Long Distance footpath.
