A number of roads in the CBD and surrounding areas will be closed as the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon takes place.
Residents and motorists in the City of Cape Town are advised of road closures in the CBD, Atlantic Seaboard and the southern suburbs due to the Sanlam Marathon. The City of Cape Town said the 42,2 km marathon will take athletes from the start line outside the DHL Stadium, out to Newlands via Nelson Mandela Boulevard passing through Woodstock, Salt River and Mowbray before reaching the CBD and Sea Point.
“Traffic services will be working with event marshals at crucial intersections in various areas to ensure minimal disruptions to the movement of traffic, assisting residents to move through various detours while also safeguarding the race route. THE FOLLOWING MAJOR ARTERIES WILL BE CLOSED OFF TO TRAFFIC AT VARIOUS TIMES DURING THE DAY BETWEEN 05:00 AND 14:30 ON 15 OCTOBER: Beach Road – 04:00 08:00Beach Road 03:00 to 14:30Buitengracht Street – 05:30 to 08:15 Newmarket Street – 06:15 to 12:15Nelson Mandela Boulevard Onramp Hertzog Blvd Nelson Mandela Blvd 05:00 to 09:00
