Towns across Lancashire will honour the fallen on Remembrance Day and Remembrance Sunday this weekend
Lancashire will fall silent this weekend to pay respects to those serving and who have served in the armed forces.
This year, plastic-free poppies have been introduced for the first time. As per annual tradition, a two-minute silence will be observed at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month across the Red Rose county to mark the Armistice. It is the exact moment when peace returned at the end of the First World War.Leyland Remembrance Sunday
Carnforth - The procession will leave the council offices at Market Street at around 10.25am and then makes its way to the war memorial, via North Road and New Street. A remembrance service will take place from 10.50am-11.30am.Morecambe - A service will commence at the cenotaph on Marine Road following a short parade meeting at The Platform at around 10.40am. A two-minute silence will follow the service.
Led by Mayor of Wesham, Cllr Doug Nowell, assemble at the War Memorial, Station Road/Weeton Road at 10.45am. Following the Act of Remembrance, refreshments will be served at Wesham Community Centre.The Mayor of Fylde will be attending Ashton Gardens, the Deputy Mayor of Fylde will attend Lytham Cenotaph, and the Mayor of Kirkham will attend Kirkham Cenotaph.
At the end of Sunday's service, there will be an opportunity for the public to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph.A short service in the Peace Garden, starting just before 11am.The service will begin at the Peace Garden shortly after 11am and attendees are asked to arrive no later than 10.45am.
The 4th Battalion of the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment would like ex-servicemen’s associations and all other uniformed groups to assemble at the pedestrianised area of Curzon Street no later than 10.20am, for the parade to step off at 10.35am as it makes its way through the town centre to the Peace Garden.
