It was the subsequent police investigation into the fraud which led officers to evidence of the murder. Causley was found in a Brighton pub by detectives after he had been reported missing from a boat off the coast of Guernsey. Police found his wife’s belongings in a storage unit which only he could access. They discovered the last confirmed sighting of Mrs Packman was at a solicitor’s office where she inquired about a divorce.
“It was inevitable for me to fall ill. Everyone is like, ‘Well done Neil’. But at what cost has it been? There have been huge sacrifices in my personal life. I’ve lost my happiness and my family. I’ve lost my fiancée of seven years, my soul mate. I’ve lost my home.”
