“I’m not anyone special,” said Sophia Young, one of 20 recipients of the TD Scholarship for Community Leadership.
She said it’s “beautiful” to watch other students start to get more invested in gardening, to the point where they’re adding their own ideas and the plan becomes something of their own.She earned a spot on a community advisory group where she was able to champion public transit as well as contribute to the energy and sustainability framework in Regina.
The TD Scholarships for Community Leadership program has awarded millions of dollars in scholarships since 1995. Recipients receive up to $70,000 for tuition and living expenses as well as opportunities for paid summer employment, peer networking and mentorship. The thing she says she’ll miss the most about Regina, is the community that she’s been able to work with over the years.
