The lives and service of Edmonton Police Service constables Travis Jordan and Brett Ryan killed in the line of duty will be honoured on Monday.
In statements released Sunday, the families of Ryan and Jordan thanked the public for the overwhelming support.“He was a multi-talented individual, dedicated friend, respected colleague, active community member and volunteer, and compassionate first responder whose calling was to help those in need,” the statement reads.
Police, fire, and military personnel from 35 agencies across the country will be participating in the procession, as well as one member from the New York State Police. Air 1 will be flying overhead following the procession as it moves along.Those viewing live streams of the funeral can expect to see the EPS Pipes and Drums create an altar of stacked drums to honour the fallen, along with a trooping of colours bearing the names of Jordan and Ryan.
While the funeral is closed to the public, the city has set up viewing areas at Ice District Plaza and Sir Winston Churchill Square. Limited seating for the elderly and those with mobility challenges will be provided in city hall.Article contentRoad closures, transit detours
