The Red Arrows are set to be the star attraction at the Blackpool Air Show this weekend with the iconic aircraft set to fly over Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales on their way to the coastal town
The Red Arrows, the RAF's premier aerobatic team, are set to thrill spectators as they take to the skies over Lancashire this weekend. The squadron is expected to be a highlight of the Blackpool Air Show on Saturday, August 10, and Sunday, August 11.
Assuming the weather plays along, the Red Arrows are scheduled to depart from their base at RAF Odiham in Hampshire on Friday afternoon, taking off at 4.45pm and landing at Blackpool Airport at 5.29pm. They will fly over Kinmel Bay and Rhyl in North Wales at 5.18pm before soaring over the sea and appearing off the coast of Lytham St Annes at 5.23pm and Blackpool at 5.25pm.
Spectators can spot them west of Burscough at 1.52pm, east of Horwich at 1.54pm, west of Langho at 1.56pm and south of Esprick at 1.59pm. The air show display is due to start promptly at 2pm. On Sunday evening, locals will have the chance to see the Red Arrows as they return to RAF Waddington. Departing from Blackpool at 7.25pm, they'll fly over Cleveleys, Garstang, Forest of Bowland, Bolton by Bowland and near Gisburn before crossing Yorkshire and heading south to their base.
