Aurorawatch has issued a ‘red alert’ saying the aurora borealis could be visible with the naked eye across the UK
A red alert has been issued for the northern lights today as the UK basks in a heatwave. WIth skies quite clear it is possible people will be able to see them from across the uk with their eyes.
Earlier this year in May everywhere in the UK was treated to an incredible display. Of course many missed the main event which happened after midnight when many were in bed and are desperate to see it again. "This resulting in minor to moderate geomagnetic storm periods and aurora may be visible at times across parts of Scotland, as well as possibly northern England and northern Ireland where skies are clear through the early hours. Another enhancement is possible for similar areas into the early hours of the 13th with further CME impacts possible before aurora activity likely returning to background levels.
