Equipos de rescate en el este de Libia recuperaron cientos de cuerpos de entre los escombros en una ciudad costera afectada por enormes inundaciones, según indicó el martes una agencia humanitaria.
La tormenta mediterránea Daniel causó inundaciones devastadoras en muchas localidades en el este de Libia. Pero la mayor destrucción se registró en Derna, donde el agua acumulada por los intensos aguaceros y las crecidas rompió represas y arrastraron vecindarios enteros, según las autoridades.
Aún quedaban cuerpos bajo las ruinas en la ciudad, mientras que otros habían sido arrastrados al mar, según el ministro de Salud del este de Libia, Othman Abduljaleel. “La situación es más significativa y peor de lo que esperábamos Hace falta una intervención internacional”, dijo en declaraciones recogidas por la agencia.
Trabajadores dijeron que habían sepultado más de 200 cuerpos en un cementerio el lunes. Imágenes de la noche mostraban docenas de cuerpos más en el patio de un hospital en Derna.
