Jurassic World Dominion's Creature Effects Supervisor John Nolan discusses the challenges of bringing back classic dinosaurs for the sequel. The third film in Colin Trevorrow's Jurassic World trilogy united casts from both his film trilogy and the original Jurassic Park films. Jurassic Park Dominion was released on DVD and Blu-Ray on August 16, 2022.
"It was probably one of the, other than the Gig, that was probably the biggest challenge because we had Steve [Brusatte], the paleontologist, and Colin and everybody to try and get an understanding of exactly what they wanted, what would be as real as possible with this dinosaur. But the problem is, there was there wasn't any archives or any footage, we had our DVDs of Jurassic and making ofs and stuff, but the picture was so bad.
It didn't unfortunately make it into the film, because of the logistics and the timing of having to film everything, all the scenes, so quickly because of COVID and stuff. But when you see it in the making of, it does it really good, we actually pulled it off, so we're really proud of that. I felt we were true to the original character from the original film."
