A park board report recommends rebuilding Harbour Green Dock in Coal Harbour for $2 million so it can accommodate commuter ferry service.
A public dock in Coal Harbour could be used for commuter ferry service again once it’s rebuilt at a cost of about $2 million.
Mike Shannon, owner of Bowen Land and Sea Taxi, said he’d be willing to resume his 35-minute service for commuters and tourists between Bowen Island and Downtown Vancouver once the dock is rebuilt. His company previously used a 12-passenger, eight-metre-long vessel. “It’s really important for them to have easy access so they don’t have to get on the ferry and then drive all the way,” the newly elected Green party councillor said. “This is such a quicker commute.”
“I don’t think we’ll be opposing the staff recommendation,” he said. “We must advocate for the facility remaining faithful to the concept of the Coal Harbour Development Plan.”
