SAPIENZA: Were there any everyday sounds that you were hearing while working on the album that worked their way in? BLEEKER: An interesting, sort of a sideways way of answering that question—[guitarist] Julian [Lynch] got a degree in anthropology. He’s a doctor, Dr. Lynch. He studied music ethnoecology and sound, and his thesis was about how ambient sound and noise affects the population in a city. I think he would say that sound in general influences him a great deal.
