Real Betis boss Manuel Pellegrini is facing a major injury crisis going into the Europa League group stage opener against Rangers.
The La Liga side could be travelling to Glasgow with a shoestring side for the Ibrox clash after coming out of the 5-0 La Liga defeat to Barcelona at the weekend with a severely weakened side - with the goalkeeping position being among the major headaches for the former Manchester City boss as he prepares to jet into Glasgow. Goalkeeper Rui Silva had to be substituted after a thigh tear with Inexperienced Fran Vieites being thrown in at the Camp Nou.
Silva was cover for first-choice Claudio Bravo who has been suffering with a calf injury since the start of the campaign - but the veteran goalkeeper has been training with the Betis squad before they leave Spain. El Desmarque report that the 40-year-old is in contention for his first start of the season against Michael Beale's men.
Portuguese midfielder William Carvalho returned to training following a knee strain but is reportedly not as close to a first-team return as goalkeeper Bravo. Andres Guardado also took part in the final pre-Rangers session on home turf having missed the visit to Catalonia with an ankle injury. Nabil Fekir also trained with the first-team squad having been out since last season with a knee injury. However, the report suggests he will not play until October and is more likely to get Europa League action later in the group stage.
