was a prominent Black Lesbian poet and activist from Houston, Texas. After attending college in Los Angeles, Parker moved to the Bay Area and immersed herself in the writing and activism community. In addition to being involved in the Black Panther Party, she was active in the women’s rights and gay rights movement helping to form the Black Women’s Revolutionary Council and the Women’s Press Collective.
was a Chicago-born, DC-raised poet and performer whose work focused on issues facing the Black Gay community. While a student at the University of Maryland, he helped establish thewhich showcased the work of Black artists. As a performer, he helped found and participated in the spoken word group, Cinque.
