The investigation has been turned over to the Nanaimo RCMP Serious Crime Section.
The death of a man whose body was discovered in the ruins of a Nanaimo house fire Thursday evening has been deemed suspicious.
Nanaimo RCMP said emergency crews were called for reports of smoke billowing from the windows of a home on Athletic Street in Nanaimo’s south end about 5 p.m. Thursday. Fire crews contained the fire and it was extinguished within 40 minutes of their arrival.Police ask anyone with information to call the Nanaimo RCMP’s non-emergency line at 250-754-2345 and reference file No. 2022-27862.
