Raytheon and United Technologies are in talks to merge: WSJ

The companies could announce a deal in the coming days, the Journal reported. Raytheon and United Technologies have a combined of about $166 billion.

The combination is expected to be presented as a merger of equals and would not impact United Technologies' plans to spin off its Otis elevator and Carrier building-systems businesses, the person told the Journal. United Technologies CEO Greg Hayes is expected to lead the combined company. Raytheon CEO Thomas Kennedy would be the chairman.
