Rangers have been fined £225,000 by the competition watchdog for playing a part in fixing the prices of replica football kits. RangersFC

have been fined £225,000 by the competition watchdog for playing a part in fixing the prices of replica football kits.

The Competition and Market Authority found both JD Sports and Elite Sports broke the law by fixing the retail prices of Rangers-branded replica kits sold between September 2018 and July 2019. A report on the government’s official website says Rangers also took part “in the collusion” by fixing the price of adult home short-sleeved shirts from September 2018 to the middle of November 2018.

The three parties increased the price of adult short-sleeved home replica shirts by nearly 10 per cent from £55 to £60. They worked in unison to keep the kit prices high which therefore affected supporters.
