Rand Water CEO Sipho Morero provided updates on the maintenance work conducted at the Zwartkopjes and Eikenhof pumping stations, stating that water systems are recovering well. Residents are urged to conserve water and adhere to restrictions.

Rand Water is working to restore the metro's water supply following maintenance work conducted at the Zwartkopjes Pumping Station and the Eikenhof pumping station. The maintenance, which began in March, resulted in water restrictions . Rand Water CEO, Sipho Morero, revealed during a press briefing on December 18, 2024, that water systems like Linden, Blairgowrie, and Randpark Ridge are recovering positively.

Morero urged residents to continue using water sparingly and adhere to Level 1 water restrictions to support system recovery. Morero also addressed the issue of encroaching homes built by residents of Protea Glen near Rand Water infrastructure. He warned that this poses problems such as possible leakages into their homes and urged residents to follow municipal bylaws in building homes to avoid encroaching.
