The Sen RandPaul staffer who was hospitalized following a knife attack last weekend was apparently stabbed in the head and needed surgery. 'Doctors are concerned about possible seizures for the next month,' Tim Todd, uncle of staffer Phillip Todd, said.
Tim Todd, the uncle of Phillip Todd, confirmed the attack in a Facebook post. Phillip Todd also suffered injuries to the abdomen, skull, brain, and lungs, according to Tim Todd."Doctors are concerned about possible seizures for the next month resulting from the deep knife wound to the head," Tim Todd wrote."Phillip is resting well."
Glynn Neal, the man arrested for Saturday's attack, was allegedly released from prison just one day prior to the stabbing, according to news reports. He served nearly five years in prison. Neal has been charged with assault with untent to kill . The attack took place in broad daylight. Neal was sentenced to 12 years and four months in prison for charges of"compelling an individual to live a life of prostitution without his or her consent" and"threat to kidnap to injure a person." “This past weekend a member of my staff was brutally attacked in broad daylight in Washington, D.C.," Paul said in a statement shared with the Washington Examiner."I ask you to join Kelley and me in praying for a speedy and complete recovery, and thanking the first responders, hospital staff, and police for their diligent actions. We are relieved to hear the suspect has been arrested. At this time we would ask for privacy so everyone can focus on healing and recovery.
The attack occurred one month after Rep. Angie Craig was attacked in an elevator at her Washington apartment. It also comes shortly after President Joe Biden blocked changes to the district's criminal code that critics claimed were too soft on crime.
