The East London side suffered another blow as Kurt Zouma was injured and had to be replaced by Angelo Ogbonna. Within a minute Olise played a cute ball to Wilfried Zaha at the back post who tapped it home to give Palace the lead. The pace of the game did not drop in the second half. Palace played the ball out from the back and when it got to Eberechi Eze in the West Ham box he was upended by Nayef Aguerd. Eze stepped up from the penalty spot and sent Fabianski the other way to increase Palace’s lead to 4-2.
“I don’t want anyone to underestimate how well Crystal Palace today. I don’t think we deserved anything from the game. I don’t want to use fatigue as an excuse. I don’t think the delay to the start of the day today helped us.”
