The ANC is celebrated its 108th birthday yesterday and Ramaphosa officiated the cake-cutting ceremony in Galeshewe, Kimberley, in the Northern Cape.JOHANNESBURG - ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa says the party needs to reposition itself to be fit for purpose - again.
"This African National Congress has led the cause of bringing about democracy in our country, justice in our country but also more importantly, that now in the second transition. We are involved in pursuing the idea of economic transformation.Facing declining electoral support, Ramaphosa says the ANC needs to regain lost trust.
"We need to get rid of corruption within our ranks. We must reposition the ANC so that it can be loved once again."READ:He said the party's goals are to unite, get rid of factionalism and to ensure that the party becomes the leader of society once again. "We are involved in the process of renewing ourselves so that we can once again be the ANC that subscribes to the principles, the values, the principles of integrity that Sol Plaatjie, John Langalibalele Dube and so many other leaders subscribed to."
The ANC is celebrated its 108th birthday on Wednesday and Ramaphosa officiated the cake-cutting ceremony in Galeshewe, Kimberley, in the Northern Cape.The governing party's in a jovial mood, celebrating its birthday while many South Africans have very little to celebrate.
