President Cyril Ramaphosa has authorised the public release of the final report of investigations by the SIU into procurement by all spheres of the government of goods and services associated with the COVID19 pandemic.

The report, published on Tuesday, does not include details of ongoing investigations into allegations of corruption.In July 2020, President Ramaphosa authorised the SIU to probe allegations relating to the misuse of COVID-19 funds.The SIU was empowered to institute civil proceedings for the recovery of any damages or losses incurred by the state.
The President says the investigation targeted individuals who believed they could exploit a moment of national vulnerability to enrich themselves through the abuse of public resources.
