A deal to keep Raleigh in Nottinghamshire and retain jobs by building it a new factory is edging towards completion. The iconic bike manufacturer made dozens of staff redundant last year ahead of a move away from its "outdated and inflexible" base on Church Street, Eastwood to another location in the "Nottingham area".
The brand is set to move into a new temporary premises by June, where it will stay until its new long-term facility is finished. "We are optimistic that we can bring this to a conclusion and protect jobs in the area - which is exactly what our ambition in Broxtowe is to do," Councillor Milan Radulovic, leader of Broxtowe Borough Council, said.It is understood the new permanent facility would be funded by the government's Levelling Up Fund.
Its warehousing and logistics services were set to be contracted out to an external company. The Raleigh Experience venue in Maid Marian Way, Nottingham city centre, was also closed.
