South Africa will resume day two of the first Test against Sri Lanka on 80/4 after the opening day was disrupted by rain after lunch on Wednesday.

The wicket had been covered for 14 hours after a rain shower hit Durban overnight and in the early hours of Wednesday morning. At lunch, returning captain Temba Bavuma and wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne were slowly rebuilding the South African innings, and put on 26 runs together for the fifth wicket. The Proteas will be hoping the two can build on when play resumes on Thursday. Clear skies are forcast for Durban, with only a little rain expected to fall over the KwaZulu-Natal city.
