A security company is offering a R1-million reward for information on a cash-in-transit heist.The robbers made off with two firearms and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The G4S Cash Solutions security guard was murdered during a cash-in-transit heist in Johannesburg on Monday evening. "Reports from the scene indicate that the cash van was attacked by suspects who were driving in a blue Mercedes-Benz, a white BMW and a Mazda BT-50 double cab. The Mercedes-Benz was used to ram into the cash van, causing it to come to a halt. Thereafter, random shots were fired," said Mathe.The driver of the cash van was shot during the attack.
His two colleagues were ordered to lie down and robbed of their service pistols. The van was then blown up, and an undisclosed amount of money taken, said Mathe.Camera footage of the robbery captured an image of one of the perpetrators, according to a statement by G4S.The company is offering a R1-million reward for anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest, prosecution and conviction of the perpetrators.
