A R1.5 million house was sold for R1 000 in an auction bid in Rivera Park North in Mahikeng, North West.
A house worth R1.5 million was sold for only R1 000 during an auction bid in Mahikeng, North West. The house is part of a divorce settlement between a married couple, and it is alleged that the ex-wife was the one who sold the house for R1000. According to, the ex-husband was frustrated when he learnt what his former partner had done. The ex-husband, Makgothu Rudolph Mosothoane, took his ex-wife, Moela Flora Mosothoane, to court for not respecting their divorce settlement.
The judge handling the case, Ronald Deon Hendricks, said that the ex-wife was aware that the ex-husband had received an offer to purchase the property for R900 000. The court cited that according to the ex-wife, she proposed that her ex-husband buy her for R700 000. Due to the lack of response from the ex-husband, the ex-wife decided to inform him that the property would be auctioned.
What do you think led the woman to sell the house for R1000 and would you have bought it at that price?
