Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Bridgerton showrunner Jess Brownell has opened up about why one key character from the book series is not present in the TV show, explaining the decision behind leaving them out of the adaptation. While the Netflix series doesn't adapt its source material exactly, nor in the same order Julia Quinn's novels were released, it has maintained the same spirit as the original.
I think was a smart decision. I think that was a decision made by Chris Van Dusen and Shonda early on in the pilot. It just gets hard to characterize three siblings, especially when the Featheringtons are in a secondary position. The main dramatic purpose of the Featherington sisters, they’ve obviously been comedic relief, but they’re there to play as a foil to Penelope.
