Huge queue as Glasgow shoppers fill trollies with half price food in Farmfoods closing down sale

Crowds of people were seen queuing outside a Glasgow Farmfoods ahead of its final closure this weekend.

Yesterday was the Baillieston supermarket's final day of trading and it led to customers queuing out the door with all products 50 per cent off. The chain confirmed it would close its store on Glasgow Road last week, stating that the decision was "a commercial one".A spokesperson said: "The decision to close the shop was a commercial one but we are very grateful to all of our customers who have been shopping with us since the shop opened and we do still value your custom."

A petition was previously launched in a bid to save the frozen foods supermarket, receiving around 700 signatures. It read: "The Farmfoods store in Baillieston has been there for many years and serves the local community. It will be so greatly missed by many in the area, especially those who cannot drive as the nearest Farmfoods store isn't accessible by public transport.
