Strain’s family said an actual detective wasn't assigned to the case until two days after Strain was reported missing.

Police say friends of 22-year-old Riley Strain reported him missing Friday night. "Every time we get a little bit of evidence, there’s 100 more questions," said Chris Dingman, a close family friend of Riley Strain’s parents.

Dingman said the ladies found the card half covered by leaves. It’s now being analyzed for fingerprints. There was no activity on the card after Strain went missing, according to Dingman. , 10 days after it was captured by an officer, showing Strain walking in his last known location on Gay Street, by the James Robertson Parkway bridge, near the river. Unfortunately, it doesn’t change much in the investigation. However, some question why more video wasn’t released sooner.

After Strain’s card was found Sunday, more eyebrows raised as to why the area wasn't intensely re-combed by police.Perhaps the most pressing question for Dingman is why police still consider this a missing person case, and not a criminal investigation, which could lead to more resources being dispatched.

TBI responded to WZTV's inquiry stating it doesn’t respond to this kind of case unless requested by the leading agency, or the District Attorney General where the incident occurred.
