With the second year of its Make in Africa Startup Mentorship Program completed, Qualcomm is calling for next year's applicants.

This week saw the 2024 cohort successfully complete the program, with 10 chosen.when it comes to its presence and work on the African continent, with the silicon maker announcing the successful completion of its 2024 Make in Africa Startup Mentorship Program.The 2024 cohort consisted of 10 startups from six African nations, each showcasing a desire to address different challenges in varying sectors, such as healthcare, agriculture, and AI.

According to Qualcomm, being a part of the program will open up access to one-on-one mentorship with leaders at the company on a regular basis, as well as guidance in order to bring product ideas to realisation. Added to this will be masterclasses on product management, hardware architecture, along with a pitch clinic. Crucially, connecting with various industry leaders, VCs, investors, and other accelerators, as well as a demo Day with the startup ecosystem, will be afforded via the program.

“The Make in Africa startups are disrupting traditional industries and tackling socio-economic challenges, crafting innovative solutions with global market reach by using AI, advanced connectivity, and IoT. This startup mentorship program reflects Qualcomm’s commitment to support promising early-stage deep tech startups, empowering local talents, creating jobs and driving economic growth,” noted Wassim Chourbaji, SVP and president of Qualcomm MEA.
