Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte announced on Sunday the suspension of classes in public schools from elementary to high school on Monday, September 30, in celebration of World Teacher’s Day.
“Public elementary and high schools in Quezon City have no classes on Monday, Sept 30, 2019, in celebration of the World Teachers Day,” Belmonte said in a Facebook post. “However, upon consultation with private schools, and public colleges in the city, we decided to leave it to their discretion to suspend classes if they deem it necessary due to the nationwide transport strike,” she noted.
Last September 20, the Department of Education announced that all eligible public school teachers will receive a World Teachers’ Day Incentive Benefit before the event is celebrated on Oct. 5.
