The fourth edition of the Street Child World Cup kicked off in Doha on Tuesday with the participation of children coming from 25 countries.

Football teams from around the globe representing some of the world’s most vulnerable children take part in the tournament, according to the organisers.

Traditionally held in the host countries of the FIFA World Cup, previous tournaments have been organised in Russia in 2018, Brazil in 2014 and South Africa in 2010. This year’s edition will be held at Qatar Foundation’s Education City.

The bust by authorities is as a result of a tip-off from the U.S. government. SONIT Liberia Inc -  a frozen foods firm issued a statement denying its involvement. The firm stated that it ceased its operations in Liberia two years ago. "This is to inform you that SONIT Liberia Inc. ceased its operations for the past two years and no longer carries out any business activity in Monrovia/Liberia. Consequently, our offices in Monrovia have been closed since 2021 and our cold stores located in Monrovia have been rented from October 1, 2021 by TRH Trading Corporation". Three people of interest have been arrested at the Sierra Leone border. They include Liberian citizen Oliver Zayzay, a Guinean citizen Mustapha Baldeh and a Lebanese citizen, Ahmad Makki.
