For the first time since 2018, Mike McCarthy will face his former team when Dallas visits Green Bay on Sunday. Aaron Rodgers spoke with mattschneidman about his former longtime head coach:

on Tuesday about his former longtime head coach, touching on everything from his memories of McCarthy to what kind of reception he should get from fans at Lambeau Field to how their relationship ended and much more. What kind of reception do you think McCarthy should get at Lambeau Field?

I think he’s a — not I think, but I know — he’s an extremely big-hearted person. He has a tremendous heart for people and he really cares, and underneath thetoughness, grit, is a big softie, a guy who really has a big heart and cares about his people. That’s how I’d describe him. It was a crash course — not even a crash course — it was a course at a snail’s pace in football and I’m forever grateful for those moments, those years of really getting to study as a backup and learn football and then to practice the drop, the reach, the punch, the reach, the crossover, the heel-toe, the 4-5, how it all kind of worked together and I was able to hone my fundamentals during those early years and get a lot better during those offseasons.
