Tomorrow former acting Sars commissioner Ivan Pillay, his predecessor Oupa Magashula and former Sars official Vlok Symington will present themselves before Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane after they were summoned over Pillay’s early retirement
Tomorrow former acting SA Revenue Service commissioner Ivan Pillay, his predecessor Oupa Magashula and former senior Sars official Vlok Symington will present themselves before Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane after they were summoned to be questioned about Pillay’s early retirement.
Mkhwebane has given new life to the case, which former prosecutions boss Shaun Abrahams declined to prosecute when Gordhan was pursued by the Hawks on fraud charges. The Pillay retirement case, as well as the battle over the former inspector-general of intelligence Faith Radebe’s report into the so-called Sars rogue unit, lends additional credence to that, they say.
Another official close to Gordhan said the strategy from the minister was to “continue doing our work and doing it well”.
