The federal government’s ban on the manufacturing and importing of certain single-use plastics, including plastic shopping bags, began on Dec. 20, 2022. He said a lot of plastic is manufactured here in Alberta. He said the focus needs to be on the challenge of creating a circular economy, rather than with plastic itself.
He said items like compostable grocery bags or wooden chopsticks are getting caught up in these policies.
